Speirs Locks Student Campus wins top design award

The design proposal for Speirs Locks Student Campus has been awarded best ‘Placemaking and Master Planning’ at the Scottish Design Awards 2013.

Designed by acclaimed architects Stallan-Brand on behalf of Speirs Wharf Developments, the proposal aims to enhance both the student experience and local environment as a whole, bringing new life, energy and interest to what is fast emerging as one of Glasgow’s most exciting cultural quarters.

Representatives from both Stallan-Brand and Speirs Wharf Developments were in attendance at the awards ceremony held on the evening of Thursday 30 May at Glasgow’s Radisson BLU Hotel.

Said Paul Stallan, Design Director: “We are delighted that the team have received a Scottish Design Award for both Placemaking and Master Planning for the Speirs Locks Student Campus proposal. The award, for us, celebrates for the value of design-led community consultation and engagement.

“All parties involved in the development are genuinely excited about the next stage in the project’s realisation and the contribution it will make to Glasgow’s new developing arts and education quarter.”
